Indeed We Can – Street Angels Milwaukee Outreach

Street Angels is a Milwaukee-based homeless outreach organization founded in 2015 by two women who took it upon themselves to begin providing healthy meals and supplies to people who were experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Since then, the organization has grown to be a highly regarded leader in the homeless services field and has expanded to deliver outreach services 5 days a week. These programs provide barrier-free access to basic needs as well as advocacy, a support system, hope, and connections to resources that can assist someone in ending their homelessness. Street Angels is 100% community supported with a small team of staff and an army of over 8,000 volunteers/year that make the mission work.
Despite the best efforts of the Milwaukee County homeless services system, only a small number of unsheltered homeless individuals can obtain shelter or housing on any given night. Shelter spaces are usually full, and even when housing vouchers are provided, it can often take several months to locate, secure, and move into a housing facility. At the same time, services such as benefits counseling, mental health/addiction treatment, and housing assistance can be extremely difficult to navigate. Street Angels is dedicated to offering support and guidance to individuals during the challenging phase between becoming homeless and securing access to shelter placement or permanent housing.
Five days a week street Angels is out in the community assisting our most vulnerable neighbors by providing hot meals, dry blankets, and a warm smile to hundreds of friends.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, their Showers of Hope staff and volunteers are meeting friends where they’re at to provide hot showers, hygiene supplies, clean clothing, and friendship.
