PINKCLOUD: Dry January in the Ox

A Celebration of Sobriety
Ben Hering
Ben Hering, whose playful, yet bold visual art, made of found wood and recycled materials, will adorn the walls of the Ox for all of January. This installation focuses on themes of the past, ancestry and nostalgia – what Hering likes to call the “sting of memory.”
Kelly Hering
Kelly Hering is a short-form writer who spends most of her day making ads. For this installation, she explores the euphoria of sobriety through a variety of written works including artifacts from early sobriety, inspiration and whims.
White Dune
Friday, January 16th
7:00pm – 11:00pm
White Dune is the electronic music project of Minneapolis drummer Dave Power. He makes downtempo, ambient, and IDM music inspired by the likes of Boards of Canada, Andy Stott, The Field, Aphex Twin, and other electronic music visionaries. His latest full length, “memory II: drift,” a 122-minute ambient/drone record, was released in October, and a brand new EP is out on January 30th.
The new EP, “formica halo”, is Power’s own attempt at making experimental, sample-based house music loosely inspired by a night he spent in the East Village of Manhattan at “The Loft,” a storied, private disco/house dance party. “The Loft” was founded by David Mancuso in the 1970s and is still active to this day, now happening four times a year. The private party is attributed by many to be one of the birthplaces of house music (along with “The Warehouse” in Chicago).
