FROM SCRATCH in the Ox: MAR10 DAY

Abandon Quest

Join us every Tuesday in The Ox for an intimate, small-room session of live, improvised jazz. It’s less of a performance and more of a process—a raw, DIY vibe where you can hang with talented artists as they build something new, right in front of you, from scratch.

On MAR10 – or ‘Mario Day’ – Stop in for an electrifying night where live Mario & Nintendo music collides with full-throttle Mario Kart World competition. Abandon Quest performs unique jazz fusion arrangements of video game music, with added original sections, harmonized solos, and fancy reharmonizations. Special guest Hans Fuerst will be performing spectacular jazz piano arrangements of treasured Mario tunes.

Abandon Quest
MAR10 Day: Live Video Game Music w/ Mario Kart Tournament

Abandon Quest formed in 2021, local to Minnesota, with a passion for taking VGM to the next level. They enjoy involving the community, and created unique ways to experience VGM, with live rhythm games, Smash Bros. tourneys, and also composing music for an upcoming RPG. They developed their own live DAW-like software in C++ and Flutter to control synchronized video visuals and supporting tracks.

Initially inspired by the “Abandon” button in World of Warcraft’s quest screen, this band-on-a-quest boldly embraces the notion that the most exhilarating journeys often begin with abandoning the well-trodden paths. You may hear an entirely re-imagined melody that you grew up listening to, or even feel like you’re in the game yourself! Join us and ACCEPT THE QUEST.
