Ask Gunnar Schmitz what a song needs and the answer depends on whose song it is. Some weeks that means writing and singing lead; other weeks it means supporting another’s voice. Years of bouncing between the two collected more than a few habits. Solo is where they can all be on the table — a country tune with the accelerator down, a power-pop hook, a stretch of psychedelia. 

He writes and sings in alewives, plays guitar with Fellow Travelers, and has logged time in Blue County Pistol and The Porch Flowers. Based in Milwaukee.
